by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education.
Dated December 1995. REF: CIRCULAR NO. MDB/ DATED 29.12.95 Vide above referred circular you have been informed regarding the subjects and examination to be held in March 1996 as per revised syllabus in respect of blind, deaf and dumb as well as spastic students. Recently, dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia cases having learning disability have been included in the list of disabled students. You are hereby informed that such students have been offered some concessions. In this regard, following clarification is offered which may please be brought to the notice of the Secondary teachers and students of your school. Work Experience subject chosen as an option for language subjects will carry 100 marks. Out of the eight subjects mentioned above, syllabus for book binding and beautification is unchanged, whereas the syllabus for remaining six subjects is revised. This curriculum is included in the booklet of revised syllabus for IX/X standard. There will be a paper for 75 marks for these subjects for those who choose these subjects in addition to Arithmetic. Rough formats of question papers (100 marks and 75 marks) on these subjects have been prepared and enclosed herewith. The above information may please be brought to the notice of the concerned teachers and students. If any dyslexia, dysgraphia or dyscalculia student has appeared through your school, information in respect of such students together with medical certification from Government Surgeon may be forwarded separately to the Board. If such students have not chosen the subjects according to the revised scheme in their applications, changes necessary may be conveyed so that the Board may be able to carry out appropriate corrections.
Sd/- Sr. Divisional Secretary To The Board has considered some concessions to disabled students (which includes blind, deaf and dumb and spastic students). There are some students other than those above, who have learning disability. In order to enable them to show progress in education, Board has considered some concessions in the S.S.C. Exam. There are three types of learning disabilities: dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia. Physically, these students appear like general students. Their disability does not appear outwardly. Such students are not mentally retarded; sometimes their mental power is brighter than the general students. But the information received from organs does not get analysed properly in the brain. As such they make mistakes in writing and in calculations. For example 4125 they write as 2154, motor car they write as tomr cra. Due to this they lag behind in their studies. To overcome their inferiority complex and with a view to help such students, Board has decided to provide some concessions. Concessions approved by the Board The students having learning disability should be examined by the neurologist on recommendation of a child specialist/special coach. For this purpose, medical certificate in the prescribed format issued by the Board and filled in by the neurologist should be countersigned by the District Surgeon. Format of medical certificate is enclosed herewith. All Head Masters/Principals are requested to provide detailed information of such students at the beginning of the academic year with medical certificate. Copy of exam papers and subject scheme prescribed for such students is enclosed herewith. Since the benefits of this scheme are being extended for examination to be held in March 1996 as per revised syllabus, all the Secondary Schools are requested to submit detailed information with medical certificate to the Divisional Board giving reference of this circular before 30th Dec. 1995 as a special case. From the next year, for students appearing for the March exam, such information should be furnished by 10th August of that year. Students and their parents may be informed suitably and guided properly. Board has decided to train the teachers/coaches regarding learning disability. The information in this regard will be intimated in due course. ANNEXURE 'D' Compulsory subjects (Total six) For Dyscalculia students 5. Science
