FAQs on PWD Act, 1995
Q 1. Where are these rights applicable?
These rights include special rights in education and employment and are applicable to all organisations or sectors run by the government and supported by the government.
These rights cannot be demanded from private organisations and schools not supported by the government. The government must provide incentives to employers in public and private sectors to ensure that a minimum of five per cent of the work force is composed of people with disabilities. But employers in the private sector are under no legal obligation to make reservations for people with disabilities. However some companies do provide for reservation for people with disabilities of their own accord.
