Disability India Journal
An online publication that offers ready-for-reference data to concerned parents and professionals.
The Disability India Journal has been envisaged as a platform to raise issues that are critically important to the afflicted; to document relevant data; and to present views and opinions of experts. It provides a sensitive yet probing look at the world of persons with disabilities.
Comprehensive data on disability has always been at a premium in India. Garnering information on the latest technical developments on this front is even more onerous. The Disability India Journal seeks to plug this gap. It offers information for the ready reference of professionals and parents taking care of their disabled children. Says Dr Vijay Agarwal, Convenor of the journal "Our goal is to bring together information on all relevant issues related to disabilities. We believe that it is vital for the disabled and those taking care of them to remain informed and aware. We endeavour to reach out to them via the Net because of the accessible nature of the medium. Our journal can deliver information to those seeking it by the click of a button."
The online journal is also extremely interactive. "As it is featured on the Net, the Disability India Journal is technically equipped to address the needs of each individual separately. Regardless of the nature of the person's ailment he or she can access relevant information from it without incurring any additional expenditure. This in itself renders the publication an eminently sustainable venture," says Dr Madhumita Puri, Coordinator of the Network.
