Ongoing Competitions

Mumbai: Motivating for non-profit Organizations

Resource Alliance and the Nand and Jeet Khemka Foundation have recently launched the 'India NGO Award 2006' in the western zone.

Resource Alliance (formerly International Fundraising Group), is an international organization committed to help NGOs and voluntary organizations attain financial sustainability while Nand and Jeet Khemka Foundation is an independent foundation with a mission to develop and promote institutions that make a substantial impact on poverty, deprivation and degradation of human and natural environment.

The Centre for Development of Corporate Citizenship under S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research will support the assessment process as screening partner for the western zone. The award will carry total prize money of Rs. 16 lakh. The winner will be awarded Rs 8 lakh. The group at the second position will be awarded Rs. 4 lakh and two runners-up will get cash prizes worth Rs. 2 lakh each.

"The award is an initiative to encourage non-profit organizations and a means to help them financially. The idea is to inculcate best practices among NGOs and set examples for others to follow," said Ms Usha Menon, Chairperson, Resource Alliance, at the press conference.

NGOs from all over the country will be invited to enter the competition. Respective zones will screen the entries and set them up for a national-level scrutiny. The national jury comprising three members will then shortlist four winners. The awards will be presented in February 2007.

The Confederation of Voluntary Associations and Child In Need Institute will screen the entries from South and East India, respectively. Resource Alliance will filter entries from the North.
