Chennai: Vishy vs. Everybody
In a scene straight out of the Hollywood blockbuster Matrix, where the protagonist fights many a virus simultaneously, World No.2 Viswanathan Anand took on 40 chess players at the same time. Like Keanu Reeves, however, Anand did not beat them all – Checkmated 38 and drew two.
Vishy vs. Everybody, a charity, though, gave him utmost satisfaction. The event was organised by NGO Vidya Sagar to raise funds for the disabled.
Anand said after the event that he wanted a better future for the disabled. “It was really nice to have chess and convictions come together. Chess because that is what I do, and conviction because I am confident these children are great people. They are capable of a lot, what they want is a little help and equal opportunity.”
S Sidharath and KAD Victor survived Anand with Draws.
