Mumbai: An intelligent wheelchair in the making
A smart wheelchair was demonstrated by Dr. Yutaka Satoh, a research scientist with the ‘National Advanced Industrial Science and Technology’. Satoh is developing the intelligent wheelchair that is equipped with a cluster of omni-directional cameras, enabling the handicapped person to navigate through the crowd or climb the stairs with the help of information collected by the cameras.

New Delhi: Visually challenged get a software to play chess
GTL Foundation, a public charitable trust, has announced the launch of a chess software, “Talk 64” for the visually challenged. The software speaks out every single move played on the chessboard. It has speech and multiple language support, which players can access through a keyboard. It has 10,000 games from international tournaments. The software was launched on October 10th at the “XI individual World chess Championship for the Blind 2006”, in Goa.
