Guwahati: Sangramjyoti Chowdhuri

‘Where there is a will, there is a way,’ the adage fits in well with the achievements of Sangramjyoti Chowdhuri of Guwahati, who will represent the country in the art section as a painter in the seventh International Abilympics to be held in Japan. The Abilympics will be held in the month of November this year.

Recently, Sangramjyoti brought laurels to the region and made his way to the International in a national Abilympics after clinching one gold and one silver medal in a national level poster designing and watercolour painting competition respectively. The competition organised by the National Abilympics Association of India in New Delhi on February 14.

His work was also appreciated by the artlovers in an exhibition at Kolkata last year in the eastern zone Abilympics. Moreover, his painting also won accolades in the exhibitions held at the Lalitkala Academy, New Delhi and Hyderabad.

Apart from a being a talented painter, this versatile youth has another identity too. He is the founder and a faculty in of one of the leading art institutions in the city, Chitrankan Kala Kendra. This apart, he is popular as a good football player and is associated with the Gyan Bigyan Samity, Sampad Kendra, Assam as a literacy campaigner.

The Gyan Bigyan Samity, Sampad Kendra, Assam, Lana Shikshan Sansthan, Kamrup and Prosesta have wished for the success of the artist in his latest venture. Sangramjyoti is the son of Parag Chowdhuri and Aimoni Chowdhuri of Ambari, Guwahati.
