A Directory of NGO’s working with Disabled Children

The disabled persons living in rural areas are not getting proper treatment and care, said the Social Welfare Minister, Dr. Poongothai, in Chennai on 20 August, at a function to launch the directory of the NGOs working for disabled children. The directory was prepared by the Care Foundation.

The Minister further pointed out that, “Almost 80 percent of disabled persons who need attention live in rural areas. Most of the NGOs working for the disabled persons are concentrated only in urban areas.”

Director of Cardiology Department, Apollo Hospitals , Dr. I Sathyamurthi said that “at present there was no proper information available on the disabled persons. This directory would help to the spread message about disabled persons,” He further urged the government to spread awareness on disability among the disabled persons and to make the buildings accessible for them.

Tricycles and Artificial Limbs distributed to mark Rajiv Gandhi’s Birthday

On the eve of the 62 nd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister, Bharat Ratna, Mr Rajiv Gandhi, the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) and the Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress (DPYC) jointly organized a function to distribute tricycles and artificial limbs to the handicapped at the DPCC lawn August 19.
