Status of facilities for Children with Disabilities in MCD Schools
In the high court of Delhi
Civil Writ Petition No. 1342/2003
In response to a Public Interest Litigation filed by the Social Jurist, A Lawyer's Group, New Delhi, the following affidavits were submitted by the Deputy Education Officer Sh ML Narang, Education Department Headquarters, Municipal Corporation of Delhi in September 2003.These orders have the advantage of precedence, for if one arm of the Government can provide them then so should the others, within a state and across them.
Summary of facilities provided by MCD schools as stated by Government orders
- Ramps in 120 schools have been constructed. Further constructions
of ramps in 1200 school sites will be constructed in a phased manner.
Annexure A
- All Parent-Teacher Associations will now have the representation of one parent of a disabled child. Annexure B.
- Visually handicapped children will be given extra 30 minutes to complete
the Annual Examination.
They will also be provided with examination papers in comparatively bold letters to ensure easy readability. Annexure C.
- Restructuring of curriculum has been assigned to the Director, NCERT.
